His friends called him Alan or Al or Cappy and his friends were many and far-reaching. Amateur Radio was his hobby and his passion for 50 years since he was a teenager in Virginia. What he gave to Amateur Radio, he got back in friendship. Alan was customer service and sales manager for Hy-Gain from 1976 through 1993. Subsequently, he was sales manager at Timewave for parts of the 1990's and early 2000's. For both companies, he created effective worldwide distribution networks for amateur radio products. That work brought him into daily contact with individual hams as well as amateur radio dealers and manufacturers around the world. The synergy of those daily personal contacts and Alan’s outgoing personality led to many enduring friendships. |

Alan was a former U.S. Naval Officer and his daughter and son are currently on active duty in the U.S. Navy. He is survived by his wife Rebecca Harman, son Michael Hill and daughter Lisa Hill. |
